Subject: Re: No Water Changes?! by taziker on 9/11/2007 13:20:56 running a refugium can really help maintain a balance in your system and will help reduce the amount of water changes needed. what it doesnt take into account the need to add calcium and other supplements that are found in your salt mixture. These supplments are absorbed in your tank helping to keep its inhabitants (fish/corals/inverts/live rock) Less water changes also can affect PH. I'd also recommend that if anyone wants to add a refugium to their setup they should wait a good while until their system has had chance to mature. eight months at least is my personal recommendation, although they can be setup before then, you just wont have a lot of success with it at first (from personal experience, not saying thats gospul) |
