Subject: New Tank & New Fish! by lseaton on 26/8/2004 13:22:31 Hi All Nice to be back in the coldwater section - in fact it's nice to be back on the forum at all! Been so busy for ages now, firstly switching bedrooms and all my 22 years worth of posessions!  Then on Sunday James and I went to collect my early birthday present  a beech Juwel Rio 240 and cabinet - they are like new and came with very interesting inhabitants indeed  I have spent the last couple of days sorting the aquarium out, rehoming some unsavoury characters - such as a certain Rainbow Crab who has bit all my lovely goldfish, so all their fins are in tatters and growing back  It was quite funny as the goldfish kept going back for more biting, and looked at the crab as if to say "hey why did you bite us?" The tank is running at 22/23 degrees (we haven't altered it from it's old tropical settings) and i have decided maybe i will keep some of the tropical fish who lived in the tank previously if all goes well, 2 gold gouramis, 2 clown loach, a betta, a shoal of Phantom & Cardinal Tetras, guppies, a female swordtail and babies and my favourite - a small blue lobster, who will apparently stay small I also couldn't resist a new big Lionhead Goldfish in a lfs, i kept a Lionhead a while back who didn't make it and am determined to make up for my mistake I've also inherited a large Goldfish from a relative, who is used to eating livefood everyday! i hope my varied diet of veg and pellets will please it! I've also got 2 telescopes, a tiny brown and gold telescope-unusual i think and a black moor, which my dad bought me as a surprise, as he thought it was a shubunkin The tank holds 240 litres, which is just over 53 gallons I think at the mo, it is ok, but will eventually become overstocked when the goldfish grow and they were who i got the tank for. At the mo, even with all those fish, the tank looks qute empty i think I have planted live plants in it again, with pink sand I need to take some pics to show you all! will try and get good pics of all the inhabitants to Can't wait til Goldy gets back from Hols, have so much to tell her!!!
