General Information: The Longnose Hawkfish has a white body with red striping that runs both horizontally and vertically. Originates from Central America and Fiji. Cirrhitidae family.
Tank Requirements: SALINITY SG: 1.020 - 1.025
Diet Requirements: Carnivore - diet should include a variety of marine meats, frozen preparations, live mysid and brine shrimp. Has been known to hunt Bristle Worms.
Compatibility: Reef safe. Semi-aggressive, but larger fish will overpower it. Better in pairs.
Recommendations: Likes to hide in Red Gorgonian Sea Fan.
Common Problems: They may eat small Hermit Crabs and ornamental shrimp.
Similar Species: Arc Eye Hawkfish, Blood Red Hawkfish, Red Hawkfish and Flame Hawkfish.
Sexing: The male tends to be larger and has an extra black edge on the ventral and tail fins. Longnose Hawkfish live in harems of 2 to 7 females to 1 male. A female will become male when a male is not present
Breeding: They have not been bred in captivity.
