General Information: The body base colour is yellow and grey/green, with transverse thin yellow lines. There is a thick black lateral line and the fins are red.
Tank Requirements: Low flow, heavy planting and some open swimming spaces will allow this colourful fish to feel at home and display at its best.
Diet Requirements: Omnivorous. Feed on good quality flake and livefoods. Include some vegetable matter such as vegetable flakes, peas or blanched lettuce and spinach. Regular live/frozen foods improve colour.
Compatibility: Very peaceful and suitable for communities of peaceful fish who share its water preferences. Does best in a large shoal - 6 minimum, preferably more.
Recommendations: Keep in a shoal for maximum effect. Likes a planted tank, but must have open swimming areas.
Common Problems: Needs excellent clean water quality for good health. Does not do well in soft, acidic conditions.
Similar Species: Many similar Rainbowfish.
Sexing: Females are paler in colour than the males who have a deeper body and develop longer dorsal and anal fins than the females as they mature.
Breeding: Spawns on Java Moss or spawning mops. Fry are tiny, so feed on infusoria or very fine commercial fry food.
