General Information: The genus Heniochus has a few lovely Butterflyfish. Their long fin and bold black and white banding allow them to stand out in the crowd. They school well in the wild and in captivity if all added to a tank at the same time.
Tank Requirements: SALINITY SG: 1.021 - 1.026
Diet Requirements: Varied diet, including marine meaty foods as well as herbivore preparations. Will forage in an established reef.
Compatibility: Known to be a hardy aquarium fish and can survive on their own, but prefer to be kept in pairs or in a shoal (if space allows).
Recommendations: Will do better in a community tank with other peaceful species.
Common Problems: Often confused with the almost identical Bannerfish, Heniochus acuminatus, which can be destructive in the reef tank. Watch carefully when added to the tank, to ensure they are feeding.
