General Information: A long nosed species which has an uneven survival record in captivity. Like to be kept on their own or in male/female pairs. Best introduced to an established reef tank, as they graze the reef and corals for food.
Tank Requirements: SALINITY SG: 1.020 - 1.025
Diet Requirements: Offer crustacean flesh, mysid shrimp and other marine carnivorous foods 2-3 times daily. Likes glass anenomes and eats polychaete worms, some polyps and algae. Forages in reef/corals for food.
Compatibility: Suitable for a community marine tank and generally peaceful although may nip at the odd soft coral or sponge.
Recommendations: Watch closely to ensure feeding. Can be aggressive towards similar species unless in a male/female pair. Needs a very mature tank and peaceful tankmates.
Common Problems: Sadly they can be fussy eaters which is the main reason they may not survive for a long period of time.
Similar Species: Bannerfish
Breeding: No captive breeding information available. Usually wild caught. Net caught fish are hardier than those captured by the use of drugs.
