Have now started (finally) cutting the Jewel rock and root panels.
I will add pictures this weekend.
I have cut away sections so the background is not so dominant and sculpted the (IMO) ugly pre-caste edges.
After trialing some mixes of sand, I have got a great match to the 3D background. Using silicon I have coated the sculpted edges with the sand and it blends beautifully (result!)
A bit of time and thought was put into fitting the outlet pipe from the filter into the tree stump, with the mouth of the outlet hidden in a wood knot I have cut away.
Another pleasing result was cutting through to the glass among the roots so that I can add a back light from outside the tank.
I have also made the planned cutouts to add plants into the 3D wall.
Into these I plan to insert aquarium planting media in small bags sewn together from larger Jewol filter bags. The idea is to cut a small cross through the bag and insert the plant roots so the soil does not escape.

The terracing I also purchased has now been cut to fit.
I now just need to decide on what mesh/sponge to use in the background to cover the cutaway for the inlet. Then it will be on to siliconing the main bits in.

Things waiting to go in are:
Aquarium planting media ( I also plan to use John Innes no2, providing I can buy one where all the ingredients are documented)
Sand ( v good match to the 3D background)
Pea gravel
Large Bog wood
Resin case tree roots, that I plan to cut to fit to the 3D background.
Heater (to be hidden next to the inlet behind the background).

will add pics soon. thanks for following.

Have now bought 2 x Juwel 600 x 650 3D backgrounds.(finally)
1 x Rock and root and 1 x Rock.
Came in a very big box.
Also have just purchased 2 x Juwel rock terraces and am waiting for these to be delivered.
Once I have these I will start posting pictures as I did not think an empty tank made for good viewing
The plan is to cut away some of the foam at the back to take the inlet and outlet from the external pump, so they are hidden.
I also plan to cut out further holes in the face of the background to allow me to insert live planting into the background.
I have been delayed by DYI projects and the adoption of a cube tank and 2 goldfish that a mates wife was edging towards the toilet!.
My wife is now keen I get the big tank finished, providing I promise to keep to 2 tanks

Hi
I have now sterilized my second hand tank and external filter as advised.
see this link to view the posts,

The external filter is a Fluval 305 in v v good condition.
I have contacted Fluval head office in Yorkshire and they have very kindly sent me the service DVD that comes with the product when new.
I have lubricated the main seal for the motor housing with petroleum jelly ( Vaseline), but am waiting on a order of official Fluval lubricant to grease the impeller housing and other seals that are directly in the water flow.
I have loaded Fluval prefilter media in the bottom basket, Fluval BioMAx ceramic media rings in the mid basket and currently Fluval ZeoCarb in the top basket.
I am thinking of splitting the top basket up to use Nitrate removing resin and peat granules. The reason being i have very hard water that is also quite high in nitrates from the tap.
I am now researching planting methods and looking at different 3D backgrounds, both bought... so expensive! or DIY options.

I really want to keep tetras as they are what started me on fish keeping the first time around as a kid.

I had thought I might continue this thread with update stages as I get the new tank set up from scratch.
Just collected my Juwel Trigon 190 today(for a full list of kit that I got with it see my profile).
Wow! the tank, cabinet and external filter are like new!
Good old ebay and nice vendors too.
Still need some help am tomorrow to get the tank out of the car, it weights a ton. Well lets say it b****y heavy at least.
