Still fighting brown algae

![]() As you can see the tank is starting to come together, still loads of growing in to do but I am starting to see the finished shape. The yucky brown algae is still there, especially on smaller leaved plants but is starting to recede. Im really hoping that it won't be replaced by thread algae or something. |

It's a nice set up!
Maybe you should reduce light time? If you're keeping small and peaceful fish, i find shrimps are really good at cleaning algae |

I've Reduced the photoperiod twice now and increased the rest period in the middle of the day. I don't know if its made any difference since brown algae blooms are normal in new tanks and tend to go away by themselves.
Shrimp wouldn't last very long in my tank. I have a baby bristlenose plec and some zebra nerites. |

I see, didn't notice them. Is your tank still have some space? Maybe some algae eater will help?
Or you can just clean the tank manually... algae is really annoying :( Luckily I have no problem with them :) |

I have been considering oto cats but I've heard that they are wild caught and usually in bad health by the time they get to the shop.
Fingers crossed it will sort itself out in the next couple of weeks anyway. In the mean time I'm going to keep expanding the little jungle on top of the tank. PS. Nitrate readings are still going down! |

If it drags on and irritates you, and of the pouches of phosphate and silicate remover that go in the filter will speed the disappearance of the brown algae. Looking good though
