      <title>What did I do before Fishkeeping?!</title>
      <link>http://www.fishkeeping.co.uk/modules/weblog/details.php?blog_id=309</link>
<description>I&#039;m new to fishkeeping, having got the boys - Chester (Black Moor) and Peter (Calico Ryukin) - just a couple of weeks ago. They&#039;re currently in a death prison BiOrb 30 litre tank and awaiting whatever upgrades we can afford in the near future.Since finding out how very unsuitable a 30 litre tank is for fancies I have found myself spending every waking moment researching the nitrogen cycle, cycling tanks, fish medicines and food, types of fish, types of plant... anything fish related! I have read hundreds of old threads on the fishkeeping.co.uk forums and spent hours looking at pictures of pretty fish. Oh, and planning a lovely shrimp tank for the BiOrb once I have a nice 200 litre one for the fish.Today I spent a good hour writing the first draft of a complaint to the shop where I got the boys in which I&#039;m trying to make them feel guilty as well as hopefully make them want to change their ways.I have dealt with many people telling me that my fish will &quot;grow to the size of the tank&quot; and that &quot;it&#039;s only a fish&quot;. I&#039;ve argued the point with some. &quot; My goldfish from the fair was fine in its bowl for at least 6 months&quot; is another of my favourites. 6 months of its 15+ year life expectancy, that&#039;s great! What I&#039;m wondering now is, what on earth did I spend my time on before this? Reading, music, work? Yes, yes and yes. But this is much more fun! I guess this old fish-keeping thing has really got me - hook, line and sinker!Ali. x(PS - sorry about the pun, I couldn&#039;t resist!)</description>
