Guys,
I bought a male and female brown about a month ago. I had not seen the male for a few days, he is alaways super aggressive with the wafers and guards them like a rottweiler, so I was turning over ornaments fearing the worst, and there he was underneath one next to a clutch of orange eggs!! I put it back down gently and he didnt move but have I messed things up?? I thought they were too young for this but obviousley not. I feel really bad now |

If it's their first spawn he may abandon the eggs, but that can happen anyway when they're new to it. For now just try not to disturb him and hopefully he'll appear with babies in due course.
It takes the eggs about 5-7 days to hatch and the babies will be attached to a huge yolk sac. They won't be able to move until the yolk sacs have been absorbed, which takes about another 3 or 4 days. As soon as you see the fry out and swimming it's time to start feeding them. Good luck ![]() |

Thanks for the info, when I replaced the ornament I was able to angle it so I could see in and he and the eggs are still there.
They must have been there for about 2 days before I found them so any day now! |
