Too early for Ich?

I purchased 2 tiny oranda from pets at home yesterday, both fish appeared healthy as did the rest in the tank (although very cramped) and as far as I can tell took to my tank well (15 ltr - with a view to move them to much bigger tank in a couple of months), I added them at about 2pm.
At about 1.30am I was having a wee ganders at them and noticed some very very small white bits on the orange ones head, the other is white so I can't tell if that one has it too. I can't remember this being there earlier on in the day.
Would it be advisable to start treating the tank for Ich or wait for a couple of days to see how it progresses?

Hi

Welcome to FK.

Can you post the answers to a few quick qustions please to help us advise, and upload a photo too if possible?

Was the tank cycled before buying the fish?
Did you dechlorinate the water?
What filter do you have?

Please post test results for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH.

Bear in mind that even for a couple of months, 15 litres is not enough water to maintain good water quality with two Orandas in there. I would be looking to get them a big tank (180 litres minimum) a lot sooner than that, and if that's not possible, house them in a large food safe plastic storage box (such as the 80 litre "Really Useful" box available from Staples) along with filter short term.

Many thanks for your prompt reply.
I've just gone to take a picture and the fish in question is now sans white spots so I'll just be keeping an eye on it.
A new tank is top on the list to buy, I have nowhere to put a large storage box to safely protect it from an inquisative toddler.
Tank was set up for three days from the advice I got from pets at home which I now know is totally unsuitable as is the tank size they recommended for two orandas! Will be following advice on how to cycle with fish.
Thanks for your input.

If you need any help please come back and ask - poor advice from pet shops is one of the big problems when it comes to fishkeeping. Most of us have been there unfortunately
