So I'm going to keep pseudotropeus saulosi or scolofi(I think I can only find those 2 in lfs) but I can't tell exactly if they're the right one.

So I've seen a lfs with malawies, juvenile one(about 3cm) and there's some blue with black stripe and yellow one. I wonder if they're saulosi. I can almost tell it but they're only 3cm?? Could they possibly already sex-able?
I've tried to ask the lfs but they don't even have any idea what fish is it!

P. saulosi are born yellow and the males change to blue with darker stripes when they mature (females stay yellow).

P. socolofi males and females are almost identical and harder to sex as a result. The males generally have longer ventrals and sometimes have larger egg spots. Some female have no egg spots at all.

If what they have are juvies and are a mix of yellow and blue striped then I would think that they are a mixed sex tank of P. saulosi

If the LFS is unsure check carefully in case they are two entirely different species' though - for example the blue striped fish could be P. crabro "blue" and the yellows could be a variety of different species such as Labidochromis (these usually have a black edge to the dorsal and ventral fins)

I was thinking the same, it's wether the mixed sex tank or mix of different species...

I've spot maylandia red zebra in that tank too and no socolofi. I will take even a closer look at them before buying... I've thought this would become a trouble
