Hi guys, wondering if anyone can recommend a powerful siphon for dealing with pleco poos.

He's an absolute poop machine (good sign i guess). I have the largest siphon available at the LFS but it's not enough to cope with the waste he produces. It manages to suck it up, but not far enough to get into the tubing unfortunately.

The tubing on this one is 1.5cm in diam.

thanks

I have the same problem I find the best ways are a narrower tube with a wide end, seems to syphon more strongly, and/or a small net to waft it up into the water and catch it

What a brilliant idea - I could probably use the same siphon, and once the poops are up in the siphon, pop my thumb over to stop the flow and put a net under.

Noodle, you are a genius!

We were miss-sold this pleco as a female bristlenose. He/She was 2" 7months ago, now 9" (measure this morning).

Was actually talking to my gf this morning about getting a cheap 5" just for him. Not sure if she'll let me though as it'll be my 4th tank! ;)

Mine was a rescue job - heading for the toilet, so I took her on and got back into fishkeeping after a 20 odd year break.

When she arrived she was only 5 inches even though she was at least 12-18 months old. Almost 2 years on, she's 14" long now and the cause of my rapid accumulation of tanks, RO unit and all manner of fish-related paraphernalia, plus making some good friends on here. A very expensive rescue in the end, but so worth it

It's a nice, not sure if you can call it a hobby, but keeping fish is very rewarding.

Herman really does look great though. Im guessing his stunted growth was due to the tank size or conditions - but never would have guessed.

That's your good deed done - he's one of the lucky ones!
