Hi, I'm brand new here and this is my first post.I 'inherited' quite a large tank from someone a few months ago, in this tank were 3 goldfish, the largest being 7 inches long by say 2 inches deep (sorry I don't know the terms to describe size) the other 2 are a lot smaller, say 3 inches long. Anyway, since I had the tank I started to notice little flies in the house, in the morning there would be at least 50 dead on the window sill and for months I couldn't figure out where they were coming from! Only last week did I figure it was 95% certain they came from the lid of the old tank (trust me it was in a horrible state)no matter how much I cleaned it they always came back after a day or 2. Now my question is, were the flies coming from the tank or somewhere else and going into the tank? Anyway, I had to scrap the tank and use one I got off Ebay which is 15 gallons, far too small for the fish, the big one anyway, but he does seem comfortable and happy enough (he is about 12 years old) he has a tumor aswell on his head which doesn't seem to bother him. Is there anywhere I can donate these fish to a responsible fishkeeper? Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

Hi, do you know if they are common (single tailfin) or fancy (double tail fin)? If they are common goldfish I could look after them until spring and then pop them in a friend's pond. If they are fancy I don't mind having them and finding homes in due course.
I'm West Mids based so you can bring them to me or I can come and get them ![]() private message me JON |
