Penfold has fungus, I assume from Oprah, although hers is not like cooton wool .
This stuff is growing on him like wildfire!
He has a bit on his tail, his dorsal and a tiny bit on his skin.
Ithas doubled since thismorning! Not width ways, but in how tall it is, you could pick it off.

Am very worried about this and also about Peaches who so far seems unaffected.... Yes, she is in with them.
I only have a 15ltr tank spare, not big enough for her is it?

Am on day three of Protozin, no change so far.
Metrowhatsit on its way from states...

What do I do?

The filter has faired well I think, Ammo is under 0.25 but not quite 0. Am changing water and re adding lost protozin as I go.
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20
Ph 7.5

i have a fluval4 (old style) in this tank, so sponge media only.
how do i remove the protozin so i can use something with more clout?
I have a carbon sponge for the fluval 2, i could always buy a new one of those at a later date and chuck it away once its beenin contact with this cotton wool stuff.

do i just cram it in? how long does it take to remove the meds from the water?

also oprah has some wool now growing on her injured fin and on her lip. is it right once the fungus reaches the bloodstream she will die?

im afraid i can't even touch on the illness bit but with the carbon pad, yeh i think it just slots in the middle (although i havn't seen the older model) but with the new model you have the 2 sections for sponge and it goes between the 2 sponges.

thanks dude. think i will just cram it in somewhere, the sponges in the old fluval 4 a cylinder shape. not sure how i will position it yet so all the water passes thru it.

hubby comes back at 4 so i guess i could raid my bros savings and go buy a 2ft tank or something for peaches, then after all this has sorted out, i will have a hospital tank?
hubby gets back anytime now so could do this, need to get into bank first.

I think i had the old style fluval in my freshwater tank so if im correct the sponge is a hollow cylinder shape.. you could roll abit of carbon pad in the plastic cylinder that sit in the middle of the sponge

(this is only if ive got the correct filter)

Phil

Bloody hell , talk about plagued. Ok protozin kills most fungi, and a fair selection of bacteria so if youre using protozin on that fish and its happening anyway, this is the odds on suspect. Flexibacter columnaris.

http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/d100011.htm

If this particular fish isnt already under treatment yet, see if the fluff reduces under medication with protozin.
