hi

seeing as a carpet effect isn't likely to work out now (ran out of sockets at back of tank now due to an airpump and 2 filters a heater and a light) as i cant increase the lighting on my tank

i've took another look at the moss wall as i was thinking about it before

as i'd use java moss i'd grow with basic lighting wouldn't it (1 watts per UK gallon or 0.222222 watts per litre)

and it wouldn't need ferts either would it :?

Moss Wall Link

thanks

well that would look very nice. all i know is the java moss in my betta's tank seems to grow ok without much light and with no added fertiliser. Quote:
Do not leave gaps between the glass and the mesh as they are death traps for fishes.
would be my only worry!
hope some technical plant person can say something more useful

yea i had a worry about that when i read it originally, about a year and a half ago since then lol as it's been sitting in a favourites folder lol, wasn't sure if the link still worked at first but i should be able to sort it out so that it's a really tight fit with the suckers and the mesh going right up to the edges etc

I haven't had much luck with java moss and I have just over 1 watt per gallon in my little tank. I've read that java moss grows better with a bit of CO2 so I'm hoping that once I rig up the CO2 reactor that Fred gave me I'll have a bit more luck!

Gillian had loads of the stuff maybe she can give you some tips.

i've changed my mind again (yea i got a mind like a womans )

if i get round to doing it then it'll be in the rekord 60 in my room (2x1x1 foot, 54 litres (12 uk gallon) 15W light atm) as its smaller than the community tank, is empty atm, will require less moss at start, plus i can add CO2 ande more light if i really need to

would i need ferts to be dosed? i'm guessing that'd be a yes, especially if i increase light and add CO2

i've been told that the lighting shouldn't be increased and that i'd only need to dose ferts, and thats only if i wanna (basically an all in one type bottled thing)

and i'm still undecided wheather to plonk a sword in the middle of the moss or not

but i will be trying to breed a pretty, colourful guppy for myself
