I doubt anyone will take the tetras because they're looking quite tatty with their fins but I could try and return the gouramis and the corys tomorrow.

Not really sure fish keeping is for me orginally i was juts going to have 1 goldfish maybe that would have been the better path.

Thanks anyway this forum is great and if i had found it sooner I miay have been ok.

Don't be put off if you really do want to have fish. This is a rewarding and lovely hobby/passion, if at times a bit worrying/distressing.

It's a steep learning curve I know, water chemistry being just one aspect, but enough folk here to help/advise you.

Most of us here, including me and the other advisers/mods (so should have known better, but hindsight and learned knowledge is a wonderful thing when you are are green behind the gills) started with fish in uncycled tanks, far too small and issues!

Trops to be honest are far easier than goldfish/fancies - they come with a huge raft of 'other issues' and easier to cut your teeth on smaller fish.

Fingers crossed for you

V

oooohhhh i am in lightwater, u could steal some of my media from one of my filters so that should have enough bacteria on it to cycle your tank.

Really? That would be fab!!

When people talk about media do they mean the sponges inside the filter?

I cleaned mine today in some tank water (it's a Fluval 3 plus) so took the cartridge out and removed the two long sponges to clean.

Very jealous of all your tanks by the way and sorry to hear about your goldfish :(
