Poor little blindchu is like an acorn today. Will have to euthanise. My poor little baba :(
I think maybe the crappy soft water was all that was keeping him alive perhaps. But I think I made the changes too fast for him originally. Very steep learning curve with these guys. |

It's been a bad two days overall, Mr S has been made redundant, poor blindchu developing dropsy, and my lovely mouse Poppy was diagnosed with cancer today, she only has a few weeks left at most, and my other mouse ( a rescue) has bronchitis.
Misery! I'm not even going to jinx the rest of the animals by mentioning them! |

Aw, sad news on many counts
It sounds like blind chu was just really unlucky with the body allotted to him, going by what you've said I don't think he'd have done as well as many other goldies even if everything was 100% perfect from the word go ![]() Hope Mr S finds something suitable soon And I can empathise on the lumpy, wheezing rodents, hope your little ones do as well as possible ![]() |

Aw, I got home from work today and poor blindchu was gone. Kicking myself over this one, I thought I was doing the right thing, and it might have been the right thing for the others, but not for poor blindchu. RIP, little guy.
Anyway, I've to go testing the water now, I have Replenish on the way, and a big jar of Pond Matrix to hopefully deal with my nitrates. My bronchial mouse has stopped clucking as much already, though I'm still hearing little 'Ssnizz! Snizz!' sneezy noises! I'll miss them, they're really cute. |

Aw, sorry to hear that
Sometimes it's better if they make the decision for themselves, at least you know for sure that helping him on his way would have been what he wanted, if that makes sense. Sometimes their fanciness is just a little bit too much for some of them, he had a great life with you and you did all you could for him ![]() Slightly off topic but related, one of my rats has a respiratory infection and I've just bought some of this for her to see how it goes, saw it recommended on another forum by an experienced rat keeper in reply to a wheezing rat question. It arrived today so I'll let you know if it makes any difference, might help bronchy mouse. She's also on baytril and ronaxan combined (from the vet) which helped while she was on them, then the course ended, she started gurgling again and now she's back on them. |

Thanks guys, I have to say I'm very sad over him, poor little thing, he was just so wiggly and awesome, no matter what was going on with the rest of the fish, he was always powering around the tank at speed at a 45 degree angle. I'll miss him a lot. Still amazed he outlived every other fish I've had!
Suey I must try that stuff for sneezy, she's on Baytril and Metacam, however it's IMPOSSIBLE to get her to take it so I've resorted to smearing it on her and she licks it off. Then she honks at me every time I come near her. |

Are mice omnivores like rats? Rattatar has her meds in a teaspoon of baby food (Hipp Organic vegetables with rice and chicken) and she fair hoovers it up! Sophie wouldn't have straight meds either when she was being treated, cue baby food and all was well
Could sneezy mouse have a bit of baby food as a treat? Meds time is greeted with huge excitement here, Tar has to have some baby food too otherwise all hell breaks loose ![]() |
