Hi Jon,
Doesn't sound like Ich from the description. Ich looks like tiny grains of salt on fins and body, not just on edges. Pic of Ich here for reference. It sounds possibly like the start of fin-rot. Pic here of a nasty case for comparison. If it's Ich, best treatment (IMO) is eSha Exit, following that, Waterlife Protozin. If fin rot, eSHa 2000 is excellent, or Waterlife Myxazin. Jpoe that help ![]() |

Rushed home from Peterborough as I couldn't rest and wanted to get meds in to fish. Came home to carnage Donald and the baby Panda are dead and the other four are looking terrible.
Water readings are Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 20 Snails also dead, but loaches showing no effects at all. Changes are that the baby panda has been in there for 3 weeks and I have done the last three changes using the Aquaworld Nitrate filter. Baby was quarentined (in the WCMM tank) for a week before transfering to the goldy tank. WCMMs and their snails are fine Because of additional fish I have been doing 200L water changes per week. Obviously devistated here, if they all die I'm jacking it in. JON |

Hi Jon,
That's terrible So sorry for you ![]() Doesn't sound like a disease as such because of snail deaths - fish diseases wouldn't affect snails and vice-versa. Have you checked gH, kH, pH of tap water lately? Can you double check nitrate just in case? What about temperature at the moment? |

So so sorry Jon
Wish I had some advice for you. I have got all my fingers crossed tight that Dudley, Ping Pong, Yam Yam and Bubble pull through, and the loaches remain unaffected.#Big hugs xx |

Those test results were conducted just before I posted. I will check hardness and Nitrate again. Surviving fish are in a 110L with Myxazin and of them PP and YY seem to have best chance.
I've left the loaches where they are. JON |

Oh no Jon!
Quote: Obviously devastated here, if they all die I'm jacking it in. Hopefully it won't come to that...I'm sure. Losses are davastating I know. last year my entire trop tank went down with a horrendous untreatable worm issue and I had to euthanise the remaining infected fish. Don't let the losses put you off though....those goldies out there 'need' you, you know. Fish deserve good keepers even if we lose some along the way, despite all of our best efforts. big hug and everything crossed for you and the fishies x |

Thanks everybody, temp has been around 25% for the past couple of weeks, I've been afraid to leave the top off because of the Loaches being do inquisative.
