I am so sorry to hear this
wish I had some advice to offer. I can only guess what others have suggested, that the water chemistry must have been very different where they were in terms of hardness, pH and temp and that the change in conditions added to the stress of travel and the recent heat has been a bit much ![]() I have all my fingers crossed that you don't lose any more! |

Oh no, I'm so sorry! That's awful :(
I wonder if adding so many in one go caused a spike of some kind? Unlikely they'd actually die from that though, how are the two original fish? Are they still okay? pH of 7 is a bit low, but not excessively, I wonder was it too sudden a drop from whatever it was in the shop? Again, clutching at a few straws here :/ |

Really sorry to hear you're having all these terrible problems
Have you called Star to ask if they've got any advice? Has anyone else bought from them recently and experienced similar issues perhaps? What's the water hardness in Merseyside? Star is in Surrey and would have hard water, maybe there's a difference there, can you test for GH and KH and check your water board's website for further info? Is PH 7 from the tap or after 24 hours? Star's PH is likely to be similar to mine which is about 7.5-7.7. Going into more acidic or softer water 'might' be causing some issues. Going back over previous posts you had a fancy die recently, is that right? After some buoyancy problems? Did you ever get to the bottom of what was causing her problems? The other two that were in the tank already, are they with the new fish? Did the original two ever show signs of anything at all suspicious? Pineconing can be a sign of organ failure, a difficulty regulating internal fluids with the external water conditions. Can't quite figure out where the cause could be at the moment though Definitely try and get as much aeration into the water as you can, keep it as cool as possible and keep the lights off for now. What were they being fed before? When I spoke to Star at Aquatics Live last year they said they were using floating pellets and didn't experience any problems with that, what are you feeding them now? Have you seen any poo from any of them? I think you need to check the hardness if you've not already done so, and double check PH, at least that might help rule out something. Will keep thinking, hope things improve for the remaining ones soon ![]() This is going to sound gross but if you've had some die and still have the bodies you would be wise to pop them in the fridge as you may be able to get a post mortem on them and see if there are any causes identifiable. I know someone who does post mortems on fish so let me know if you need his details. |

How awful.
And you bought them from a really good shop too! I would ring them and let them know what has happened. I think Fancy Goldfish are the worse for this sort of thing. So difficult to look after anyway and when you work so hard to get the tank cycled etc. hope you don't lose any more. xx |
