Hi
If this is the same ammonia remover you mentioned before don't use it. The tank is still cycling and until enough bacteria grow to deal with the output from the fish you will see ammonia and/or nitrite spikes. Using the remover will just delay the completion of the cycle so it's best at this point to continue as before by doing water changes to keep the level of toxins low while the cycle completes ![]() |

Hi pad
Did you put all the media in from the Biorb as recommended? (sponge squidged into new filter, biorb media in pop socks dangling in tank?) If so it would be unusual to see such a spike given the increased volume in water they now have. Nutrafin cycle won't really assist I'm afraid. You just need to keep doing water changes (possibly daily) to keep this low. |

Oh dear
![]() Following those instructions I posted would have meant a more or less 'instant cycle' and far safer water within a day or two of settling. Unfortunately, you are now doing another fish-in cycle from scratch ![]() This usually takes more than the 4-6 week fish-less cycle, given you have to keep ammonia much lower. No need to apologise. Only you that will need to get uber friendly with the buckets - you will be looking at a 50 litre water change minimum now, probably every day for this duration. Hindsight, eh?? |

FK members here can only give advice given their years of experience and knowledge. Unlike aquarium shops, FK has nothing to gain (no-one gets paid) other than healthy happy fish with hopefully unstressed keepers
There is no compulsion for any OP to follow guidance here, but it is sometimes odd that advice is sought than ignored ![]() Quote: i am sick of the site of the bucket Think at least 5 of those each day going forward - I'm sorry, but a steep learning curve I know when you are new to fish-keeping. Fins crossed for them all. V |

Buckets are your friends! Means you don't have to go to the gym! (Well that's my excuse, anyway ..)
