Ive still looking for the ideal bushy easy to grow plant for my tree effect that im trying to create in my planted tank ..i need some help!

Ive looked at the many types of moss peacock, flame christmas but very unsure which to get..

am i right in thinking they are all slow growing?

Ive co2 and dose carbon and ferts and medium strength lighting

Ive attached a photo of the 'tree' of which I have attached riccia too, but dont think my lights are strong enough for it to become bushy like i want it too, and the cotton i tied it with is already disintergrating (haha sorry ive bad spelling)..or should i be patiant as its only been tied it down for just 2 weeks now..

your help is very much apriciated

See this link for a treescape. He's used anubias nana mini for the tree, which is a pretty undemanding plant compared to riccia and looks pretty effective.

The moss would be fast growing with good light and c02. The anubias looks lovely but I would be wary unless you are confidant it won't get algae/don't mind seeing a bit. Its very slow growing and does show up even minor algae issues.

I tried this with christmas tree moss but didn't have the patience to see it through.

My tank is due a moss trim, you more than welcome to a few clumps,
I tried a tree once looked quite effective, but could not find a place for it in my tank, so passed onto a mate.

Ive 90watts of light - so this tank is getting about 1.5w per Litre or there abouts so i think thats classed as medium lighting??.. and being only a few inches from the surface i though i must have enough light??

C02 wise i use pressurised (a bubble every 2-3 seconds) for about 9 hours a day (with a 1 hour lights off break) i move the diffuser around the tank every few days too and the riccia does 'pearl' after about 4 hours of co2 diffusion eah day

prehaps im just being a little impataint with the riccia it not even been in there for long 2 weeks today.. im wondering if i somehow damaged it when tieing it onto the wood - im gonna do a little research on youtube and see what other people have done with theres! most sites do say it is 'slow growing' so not sure what slow and fast is to be honest!

Ive brought some christmas moss from ebay so im going to attach that with fishing line and see what it grows like!

Thanks critch for the offer id love to take you up on the offer (and of course pay something for the postage and your time )what moss type do you have?

many thanks

Ohh ive seen the anubias nana tree that the youtube guuy put together - i like it, and did consider it at first.. but its not as bushy as id like mine to be - im going to wait a few months and see what it turns out like..and in the meantime attach the christmas moss on another part of the bog wood and see how that does!

I didnt realise that riccia never attaches its self ever.. so the cotton i used will proberly disintigrate soon.. so im gonna have to put a little fishing line over it before that happens..opps!

thanks everyone x

My riccia has attached itself after all..did a big clean up yesterday and notices all the cotton has gone and its still holding on nicely and also very slowly speading along the 'branch' so im gonna leave

Thanks to Critch i now have a big helping of moss to add to my tree (not done it yet thou) ,such a generous fella!

im gonna have to rehome some of my bulb plants as i went away on holiday for a week and came back to a crazy jungle!
