I was wondering what would I need to do to safely add fish to the pond? I was thinking just a few goldfish. We used to have about 30 at a stage.
It's 15 foot by 7 foot by 1 foot deep. Are there any fish suitable?
It has got large water beetles (a few species), waterboat men, pondskaters, freshwater louse, dragonfly and mosquito larvae in it.

All I know is I should add a UV-filter. Anything else required? It is very shallow...

Plus if you were to add fish they'd eat the majority of the interesting invertebrates that you have- I'd never seen a waterboatman until all our fish were eaten by a heron. Keep it as it is, and enjoy the wildlife it attracts.

I thought it was too shallow. Is it just for temperature wise?

ah mainly because of wintering the fish from ice and cold the recomended minimum is 3ft dept, iv seen a pond of mine freeze to 2foot deep in the extreem cold 2years ago.
on top of that they would be very easy pray for preditors at that dept.
there could be other more important reasons tho also

I'm envious of anyone with a pond! Being in an Edwardian terraced house we only have a small back yard, but we have made it pretty with some raised beds and lot's of hanging plants, the rest being paved. If we ever move I am so having a pond

There seems to have been some sad stories on the local news here with young hedgehogs getting caught in ponds and drowning which is upsetting.

I'd hope most pond keepers would consider an emergency ramp/ladder to aid any wildlife that falls in. Rousham House and Gardens in Oxfordshire has a rather nifty one...

Home made by the look of it Can you buy such ladders/ ramps for ponds?

Mentioning hedgehogs, anyone see the bruiser in the news last week who is now on a diet after the very well meaning garden owner accepted he may have been overdoing it a tad?

Normal sized, similar aged hedgehog on the right....

I'd love a pond and our garden is big enough, but the cost is off-putting. It's so expensive to do it right, especially if you have to hire in the labour to dig it out too!

The other things that stop me are our terriers, who would think it was their own private swimming pool, and the fact that we already get a plague of baby frogs every spring, even without any water!

You must be much colder than here! We have an inch or two max of ice.

If I lived near by I'd dig it for you! I'm from a farming background and I'd not charge you too much, as long as you fed me when on the job. But then if it's a Koi pond you are after I'd have to get my bro to use our digger.
