Now this is the problem, I have a small pond approx 6' 6" x3' x 18" at its shallow end and 2' at its deepest, I have a Hozelock Easyclear 3000 and a Hozelock Ecocel 2500 filters installed.
Stocking is 3 Goldfish and 2 Orfe, its been running for 3 years now. The water is crystal clear but the problem I have is any submerged plants I put soon and I mean within days get covered in a green slime if left they they choked and die off very quickly, even the small lily I have struggles the stems and the devloping leaves get covered in the stuff. I'm presuming rightly or wrongly that its caused by dead algae from the UV and that is why I put in the Ecoclear filter to try and filter out the stuff but it dosnt seem to be working,if anyone has any ideas I will gladly take them on board I am willing to try anything to put this right, I just want a nicely planted pond, thank you in advance. |

Some photos as requested, I noticed last night that the uv light was glowing a pinkish colour so im changing it today, dont know how long its been like that.
As you can see the plants are covered in this horrible dark green slime which quickly kills them off. Ok where did the pictures go ![]() Got it now! |

Thanks for the pictures.
A few questions: 1) Where is the Hozelock Ecocel 2500? 2) How long have you had the "slime problem" 3) When did you last change the lamp (The one that as you said is glowing pink ish) 4) When did you last clean the sponges? 5) What slime? I don't know if its these old eye balls of mine, but I can not see any slime (any chance of a pic of the slime? (No not now, tomorrow will be fine, or the day after) 6) Why is your easyclear (only) just above the surface? |

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, so to answer some of the questions, the ecocel is to the right on the second pic hidden under the bamboo, I changed the uv bulb today I dont know how long its been glowing pink but I installed in october of last year, the sponges are cleaned on a weekly basis because they are constantly clogged up, actually its a bit of an optical illusion the easyclear is completely submerged it dosnt look it in that picture but it is, and the slime problem Ive had for over a year now last season was the same I couldnt grow any aquatic plants at all, I'll see if I can get a better picture to illustrate what it is,once again thanks for the speedy response.

On the actual leaf. I know it looks a different colour but if you wipe it off its like the previous photo.

Good quality costs. Bear this in mind before you start.

A "thank you" costs nothing, but goes a long way.
