Hi guys.
The water in my aquarium seems to be cloudy all the time. It's been running for 4 months ish so it's not a bacterial bloom. I have next to no algae in there so it's not that. It's only slightly cloudy. As a guess, could it be dissolved oxygen? I know that can cause cloudiness in water where there is lot. And I do have 3 air stones in there, a couple have very fine bubbles coming off. Anyone else had this? |

Hi Capey
![]() Can you give us the usual low down first? Readings for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate. Blooms can occur even when semi or fully mature. White I assume, not green? Pic perhaps? Are you using fine white filter wool in the filter? |

Yea. Pretty much same readings except Nitrate was probably about 10ppm then. It's steadily decreased over time due to water changes I think.
I think it is the air bubbles. Suppose better to have too much than not enough lol |

Which kit are you using? API liquid kit only reads zero to 5ppm etc and then in 10/20ppm increments.
The nitrate reading is low (good of course) but lower than would be anticipated from a semi mature tank with stock What's your tap water nitrate though? Something a bit odd here I think. Size tank, current stock? Water changes, how much and how frequently? Your profile is empty at the mo so if you could fill in that would really help. Often it is a combination of multiple factors that will affect the question and the answer that is sought ![]() |

I had a look at the pics in the older thread and it looks like quite a minor haze - my guess is that it's from all the airstones. I think three is a bit of overkill really.
Are you still having to add minerals/bicarb to the water or is the crushed coral taking care of it now? If you're still having to add them, they may need a bit more mixing before going in. |

I test it at work lol. 100% accurate and can read to the nearest 0.001 ppm lol
. Tap water nitrate is 1.3 ppm, I change 20% water each week. At min I have 8 cherry barbs, 4 dwarf gourami, 1 male, 8 harlequin rasbora and 5 julii cory. It's 180 litre Juwel Rio tank Violet. Had fish in there about 6-8 weeks ish. |

No Noodle, I don't need to add anything at the min. Everything is stable. But the slight haze has always been there.

Well I will go with the airstones suggestion though as Noods said
![]() You could make a fortune testing water for folk here in your lunch hour if you chose LOL Perhaps just crank them down a tad. All your levels are safe and uber fine. Lucky fish, even if it's been a big foggy for them right now. |
