i moved almost 2 years ago.my tank is dry :( now i`m just wonderin if i fill her again and get a little bit of live rock will the system recover? i did try last year without any liverock just the dead stuff from my first setup but even after 3 months or there about i wasnt gettin posative readin 4 NO2 or NO3 while NH was off the chart. so 2 b clear can i seed 60Kg of dead live rock with 2 or 3 Kg of live to get a thrivin system again. i figure if i can it will take awhile but thats ok

in short, yes you can
but first you must "cure" the dead stuff, run it in a vat of salt water with a pump, heater and skimmer to rot away the dead organisms in the rock IME, blasting it with a hose will help remove the bulk of the dead, thus speeding up this process |
