Hello,

I'm on the 5th day of the cycle and although the ammonia level has or seems to drop, its been only very slight.

I've tested for nitrites but still nothing showing. Is this normal? as I was expecting the ammonia levels to drop more

Hi Rob

This is quite usual. As I learned, you have to be patient!

Peter.

Well that's ok then! Just didn't want it to take even longer should. For some reason I expected big ammonia changes instead of .1 ppm that I'm sometimes getting.

It's very early days yet, but the fact tht you're seeing some drop in ammonia shows you have the beginnings of a bacterial colony

The amount of ammonia used up over 24 hours will gradually increase, and once you get to about 1ppm drop in a day you sill start to see some nitrite.

Ok so I've now been cycling since a week last Friday, I'm not really seeing any change in the ammonia levels, I think I wad just seeing the colour wrong initially.

Is this normal or should I be seeing nitirites by now?
