Orca TL 550 #1
I bought an Orca TL 550 today, my first marine tank...I was excited to get it home and start setting it up however the instructions are useless and don't actually tell you how to set it up...I've found forums which told me to put what in what chamber BUT the skimmer, heater and pump all have standard plugs which go straight into the wall...fab! But there is another part, I think it circulates the water? It sits at the waterline and looks to have a single pin plug on it...does this go into a transformer or somewhere else in the tank? I've searched everywhere and I've no transformer or anywhere to plug it in It seems to be coming from the top of the pump...Can someone help?

Thanks..

Hi nsysum, welcome to FK I've no experience of marines myself but we do have a couple of articles about the tank you have, maybe they would be helpful for now? Hopefully someone with more personal experience will be able to offer some more advice

Thanks for the replies..that first link doesn't seem to work.

As for the e-bay link I don't know if thats what I need but should the tank not have come with everything needed to get it going?
All I can tell is that its on the pump, the wire at the bottom of the pump has a standard plug and the one coming out of the top of the pump is the one I don't know where to plug in?

Yeah, as I said I already looked there and I'm still non the wiser... I think I'm missing a part...something to do with the UV filter from what I've read elsewhere...Should this not have come with the tank? It was bought brand new...

Re: Orca TL 550 #9
Can you post a photo of the thing in question? That should help clear up what it is then we can see if we can figure out what's amiss with it

What UV is it? Is it an Orca own brand or a Vecton or such like?

The thing that circulates the water - are you talking about a powerhead like the koralia ones?

Re: Orca TL 550 #10
Yep, sounds like the UV. You should have a power supply with it. I've run my tank without UV for a year, I won't get into the nitty gritty about the merits and downsides to UV on a marine tank, but it's not vastly important to be honest so I wouldn't worry if you don't have it, although I would probably chase up the shop you bought it from anyway as you didn't get what you paid for....

Are you going with live rock & corals or fish only? That will affect what you do with the media and sponge...
