hi, I've the same v2 400 and it is inside the sump. your is hang on which is fine. the air tube you've got inside the bubble trap box is correct and it is inside the water, so no problem there. Only want to say as the instruction in booklet does mention it is the air tube should only just enter the hole of the black sponge. Not all the way in to touch the white filter wool underneath it as it will block it and make the skimmer less efficient. So if it too big and goes all the way in to the bottom then cut a bit off so it only just enter inside the black sponge hole. And like Eagle c say it take a while for the skimmer to bed in especially if it new and worked better when you have stock in.HTH

Hey! Ive fixed my Protein skimmer Just incase anyone else has the same problem, i thought id put the answer up. I simply took my skimmer out the tank and stripped it down to clean it. When i got to the Motor, i also took it apart to find that a large salt deposit had clogged up the tube. Cleaning this i put it back together and tested it in the bath. I was now functioning great! :) |

There are 2 ways of doing it. To get the cup off you have to unscrew it off where the light grey ring is. You can turn it off and unscrew the cup off or you can turn down the air intake until the water level is below the screw ring
then unscrew the cup while it still working. HTH |
