Mt system is only been running for 4 weeks now, i get about a egg cup full a day from my skimmer, iv already replaced the air stone once as they do seem to clogg up realy fast,
bubbles arnt to bad they do seem to be decreasing very slowly as time goes on, apart from that im happy with everything els recon the system may need a chiller thow in summer months as the temp does rise abit when lights are on, Glad you sorted your primming pump out terry |

I've found a little trick for when the bubbles start.
I've been sat watching TV and all of a sudden the pump starts throwing out loads of bubbles. Levels in the tank are OK, but the Marisys level has dropped, as has the overflow box level. On top of the overflow box there are a couple of pipes, if you squeeze the pipe on the left as you look down on them from the top to block it then you will see the overflow box start to fill with water again through the blue plastic top. Keep squeezing it until nearly all the air has dissapeared and the overflow box starts working again. On rare occasions I have to do it a couple of times. Note: you will see the level rise in the open box at the back of the overflow to the point you think it's going to overflow, keep an eye on it, but i don't thik it is possible for it to overflow as it it constantly draining to the marisys |

Hi,
My name's Dilen and next year I'm planning to buy marine fish and get the Aquamarine 900 as it looks pretty sophisticated. Anyway I was just wondering; Is it a nice tank? Are there many problems? Is the tank hard to maintain? Any other recommendations or tips? Thanks P.S. I've never had marine fish before but I've researched a lot and think I'm ready. If you have any helpful comments please reply! |

Hi Dilen.
I bought the Aquamarine some months ago and it is a nice tank. The cabinet has good spaces for storage, the lights are good for this type of set up, and it comes with the needed filtration. That said, read this thread and you will get some more info on the Marisys filter, as well as some problems which people have encountered. I had a real problem with the noise from the overflow and eventually changed the Marisys for a Deltec 300 hang-on skimmer and a Tetratec EX700 filter... Just my 2p worth of input. Mattias |

Hi Dilen, welcome to FK.
Like all products that "do everything" you're going to find that if you look closely at the individual components of an Aquamarine 900 or any other systemised tank that they rarely are as good as the individual components that you could purchase for twice the cash and possibly spend days trying to get fitted. You have to make a descision between convenience, price and performance. It's never going to match something like this: ( http://www.deltecaquariumsolutions.com/aquariums.php ) in performance but it will leave a much shallower hole in the bank account. ![]() Consider the Aquamarine as a good place to start but understand that you may well want to change the skimmer, fit a proper sump, upgrade the lighting etc etc as you progress. Hope that helps. ![]() |

I would have thought so, you're looking for good flow around all the rocks and that normally means Litres per hour of about 20 times the tanks volume split between multiple sources to avoid any dead spots.

Yeah thats what i thought.
Any recommendations on good powerheads. Bit concerned that the power cable for the unit will be floating about in the tank. Is this correct or am i overlooking something |

nearly all your equipment has a power cable immersed in water so powerheads no diffrent TBH aquariums are an accident waiting to happen regarding electric best make sure your electricity supply is rcd protected to be on the safe side

You can get powerheads where the electric part is on the outside of the glass and the impeller is drive by magnetics. You still need that RCD because of the proximity to the water but it does keep the heat and wires out of the aquarium.
Can anyone remember the brand? |
