Re: Tank bulb problem :-( #11
Well no reply from tetra UK yet. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I might be able to get some photos on today if that would help.

Thanks

Photos would be good, give an idea of what we're dealing with exactly.

Ok here goes. These are in various stages of removing parts.

This shows the general layout of the tank.

This is the only place I can see that would have the starter unit.

This is the black box above with the cover removed.

Behind the black box is the switch wires.

I hope that helps.

When it worked did the light come on right after you flicked the switch or did it flicker once or twice first?

ah its probably an electronic starter/balast then which should last a good 15 years but isn't so easy to swap. thats what you've found in that box.

If the tank isn't that old speak to the shop you bought it from.

That's what I did and they gave me a number to ring. I might give that a try now.

Thanks

I just phoned Seapets who I bought the tank from. They are going to send me a replacement hood and come and collect the old free of charge.

Fantastic result.

I actually got an reply from Tetra UK yesterday. Apparently all the Aqua Art 60l tank lights are faulty. They also offered to replace it free of charge.
