If my tank is cycled by mid of next week and still stable by the weekend, andif this fish is not purchased and is relisted, am Ilikely to regret buying him?
I feel really sorry for him.....

Just out of interest, how would damage to this extent happen to a fish if it was kept with the right company?

Should I ask how it happened?

Seen the link, I'd say "don't do it."

I recall having a fantail when I was younger who only had a stalk and the rest of it never grew....
I know that has answered the question but I was wondering if anyone else had experience and maybe in the past I didn;t do the right thing to help it grow back?

Hmmmmm ...

I think the thing is not to convince youself that you are going to buy him ...

You run a danger of the tank not being ready for example , but you talk yourself into it, saying oh it's only a little bit of Ammonia , Nitrite or whatever ...

The fish is gonna be stressed from the transport ( regardless of whatever anybody says ) so if conditions are not A1 perfect , it might tip him over the edge ...

If your tank is cycled and holding steady , then great , go for it ( although i still don't like the idea of shipping fish ) but don't convince yourself it is altright if it isn't ...

Not for one minute suggesting you would ....

Are you looking for a large black moor, or are you buying him because you feel sorry for him ....

How old is it ? fancies don't live as long as singletails, and at 7 inchs i'd imagine hes fairly old ( 3 years + )

How big is the tank he would be going into ?

I'd ask for some better photos personally ... so you can see if he has fungus on his head ...i'd also ask how the in was damaged , looks like something has had a go at him ...

When the guy gives the answer post it up , and we can decide if its BS or not .... the fin will need treating with anti fungal by the look of things

Could be a bit of a gamble , but rewarding if it pays off ...not saying don't do it, just be careful ..

H

I do want a large black moor. That is one of the fish I wanted for my 2nd tank I am cycling especially. I have a 3ft I wish to put 2 fancies in.
I originally wanted 3 but after seeking advice here, a black moor has made it into the short list of two over a lionhead.

I wouldnt buy him if the water was not ready. I have waited this long and am not about to rush into anything and ruin it all.

How very dare you, Howie......

Edit: What does BS mean?
I thought maybe it has been caught on something or as you say, attacked by something else.
Ya think hes quite old?
