Does anyone know if the brown thing growing in the green zoanthids is aiptasia or another sort of polyp. I,ve got a few baby aiptasia around the tank but they are a lot lighter in colour than this thingumybob. Sorry about picture quality, not had any alcohol today yet

funny you should mention it, i have a couple of them too, and something else similar that im suspicious of, and woz just about to look for what they are too.. got the joes juice at the ready!

aiptasia are usually grey arent they? And dont they sting and kill corals? if so, then your buttons wouldn't be thriving next to it. by the way, your buttons have amazing colour! i have some brown ones, i got them because they had giant green ones mixed in. I recently got a colony of green ones but they're more of a forrest green than a psychadelic green :)

it could be an aiptsia as they are brownish. I think I have 2. One took a long time to grow and recently it dviided but there is no sign of any further division so will leave be until it happens again as not causing any harm to the tank at the moment. There are various aiptsias some with longer thinner tentacles than others. Just keep an eye on it for now. You can remove them.
