Hi there The treatment is a twelve day one, doses on days 1,4,8 and 12. Today is day 4. Water temp is about 23 degrees, PH is about 7.5/8 last time I tested the tap water but I've not done his water specifically - will do tonight. I took some of the water out to make it shallower so he is only in about 10 litres which I also worry about! He does have an airstone though and I added salt at 5g per litre over 2 days as per instructions on swimbladder treatment.

Cheers

The 'safe' level of ammonia for pH 7.5 would be 1.3ish. The safe level for pH 8 would be 0.4ish. Any higher than that and I would do a water change. Hope that helps!

Wow Suey2, what a lovely person you are devoting your time and effort to your baby pearlscale.

It couldn't be that haemorragia thingy though could it? In general information, there's an index with photographs on diseases.

Theres one with red patches.

How's your little friend doing now?

Nasty FS not taking him out when he was being picked on!! Shame on them.

He wasn't looking good when I got home, still listing to one side and stuck on the bottom but a water test revealed the ammonia was creeping up further Have changed the water and added more filter media from the mature filter but now the swimbladder treatment is seriously diluted. He's looking a little better now and has just shimmied along the bottom reasonably upright but then listed again when he stopped. I can't decide whether to start the swimbladder again or leave him be for a while and get the water stable again. I didn't think the treatment was making any difference but it was only 1/3 through so not sure Indecision!! I still think the red patch is bruising as it is on the side he lists onto. Might add some tea tree oil in case of infection ...

Thank heaven it's Friday tomorrow, this work thing really gets in the way!

That's right, I read that swim bladder is not really a "cureable condition" as such, it has been known to go itself, and I should imagine a happy fish is the way to do this!

I still think you are a "fishy hero" for saving that poor pearlscale!

You shall get your reward in heaven - your own aquarium on a cloud or something! LOL!

Keep up the good work

You're very kind! I did put some swimbladder back in the end just in case it is bacterial but will keep a close eye on the water.

Have called him Iggy (Lust for Life!)
