You may recall a surprise spawn betweekn Howie and Rocket recently, well, six of the babies aurvived and are starting to turn into proper little fish
So I thought it was time for some (really quite woeful quality!) pics Excuse the terrible algae, the tank is by a window and I've let it grow so they can snack on it ![]() Five of them are turning gold, there is one who is resolutely staying black at the moment though! Here we have The Dark One with one of his smaller friends ![]() Some of the medium size ones (size is all relative, the 'big one' is really quite small!) ![]() A small flock of trouble ![]() Uno and a medium sized one (Uno is at the back faffing about in the bubbles, he's the biggest, about the size of a neon tetra) ![]() Another medium sized one ![]() Have now moved them on to crushed up adult pellets instead of baby food which they seem quite keen on! |

Aw, thanks everyone
They seem to be growing faster than they were at first, if that makes any sense! We're thinking of moving them to their own tank soon as they're liable to start annoying Chips and Dilys when they get bigger. Sadly they're far too small to go in the tank with mum and dad, Howie's pectoral fin is bigger than they are! Much as I'd love a pic of them with him I think would be a disaster waiting to happen ... |

Bit of an update ... they've grown, quite a bit, and some have gone orange now. Some are 'on the turn' and half orange, and the biggest one is resolutely brown still. The fantail is still weeny but the biggest is now about 2.5 inches in body, and has the bulk of her parents ...
The biggest one has also been caught eating the tail of one of the special needs fish they share with so a big thanks to Brigitte for the loan of her divider! All six are in this pic ![]() |
