please everybody, dont kick me in the nether regions,I KNOW they like maturer tanks but being the big ignorant kid that i am,i went ahead and bought 6 neons....anyway,keeping to the problem at hand, ive noticed that one of them has a bulge in the stomache.ive done some research and i did suspect dropsy but the fish doesnt seem to be showing any other of the symptoms ie,has no problems with feeding, hasnt got any bouyance problems and shows no differences in behaviour to the other fish.i also know that dropsy isnt itself a disease but a symptom of something else that could be wrong.can anyone help? (also, appologies for the spelling mistakes!)

Hmm that's a risk. Now you'll have to do daily water change.
Remember to do it daily or you're in for a big risk of wipe out! Watch closely for any another sympton. A bulge in the stomach can have many cause and not always it's a sickness |

If the abdomen is just a little larger/more rounded than the others it may be simply a female filling with eggs. Females are slightly larger and more rounded than males and this becomes more obvious when they are loaded with eggs.
I assume your test results are all as they should be? If so, then it's likely there's nothing to worry about, so just monitor the situation and let us know if anything changes. Quote:
Morgan's tank was fully cycled and unless there's any indication of a problem with the cycle or water quality daily water changes are not needed at this point, and may cause unnecessary stress. |

I have neons and cardinals. I to believe their is a very high chance you have a female. My neons are a multitude of shapes and sizes and find them quite hardy little fish. Fear not and be patient, it has took me a year as a newbie to build up a tank of mixed tetras!
