Yep - got some Elodea Violet - it was the only one I recognised in Pets at Home. Have lots of other plants in tank as well.
Silverfish and Violet - they have had a small feed this morning - who wants to break it to them that they are on rations then for a while? Put them some carrot in yesterday and caught them having a nibble. Off to do a water change again - ammonia still at 1.0 this morning. Never thought it could all be so technical this fishy business! |

Such a better sized tank for now Milli, bet they are clapping their fins
Perhaps remove that urn, only just for now, it's taking up valuable water volume and top the tank up by a few more inches (given the pic). Dilution is a must when fish-in cycling, you can add the decor back when all is well, of course. As for the back pane of the tank, consider 5 or 6 big bunches of elodea to create a wall affect. This will assist with water quality and once the tank is cycled can be removed if you don't like. Parrots, we want pics of the parrots too like cathie said, african greys perhaps? Had a bizarre moment with a red parrot in Florida once. Sat on my shoulder, he bit my ear lobe, ho ho ho everyone laughing, I was crying with pain, they thought I was laughing Scare me a bit now tbh lol... |

Update - have removed urn for now. Not had chance to get anymore plants yet. Seachem Prime has arrived and the little ammonia testing gadget that fits in the tank.
Water change today 25% as ammonia was at .25 yesterday. Used the new Seachem Prime to treat water. Gravel very dirty again! The bigger fish, Red now seems to be chasing Goldy, the smaller fish around? Never noticed this before. Red gets up very close Goldy and starts to nudge her? Is this normal behaviour? Trying for a picture again. |

And for the parrot lovers....
Sorry to hear about your horrible experience with a parrot Violet. It is a good thing goldfish aren't as bitey! |

Love the parrot
![]() The following and nudging - sometimes goldfish seem to do this briefly in new tanks/ with new fish then stop, otherwise it could be courting, keep watching to see if it continues ... Have allow at Red to see if there are any little white bumps on his gill plates/pectoral fins - will see if I can find a pic for comparison ... Have a look here |

Ooo-er - Red does seem to have tiny white bumps on the cheek area and a little row of them on one of the fins! Goldy does not have any. Could this mean Red is feeling lots better now in the bigger tank and becoming frisky?
Have some brown patches of algae starting to grow on the inside of the tank glass Is it OK jut to wipe off with a sponge? Sorry all the questions - just want to make sure I am doing it right this time . |
