Hi everyone. I've got quite a few plants in my aquarium now, they're all considered to be easy to look after and grow but I'm wondering whether I need to help them along a bit? I've got a very simple temperate set up (White Clouds and Pepper Cories) with no CO2 and don't really want to go down that route. I dose twice weekly with Seachem Flourish and my LFS has now recommended Root Tabs. Are they worth getting and if so which ones would you recommend?

Best wishes x

I use root tabs, I simply placed one or two under each plant depending on the size. They are still tthere 3 months later as i uncover a few every time i have a good substrate clean! My plants are also low matainance types persumbly like yours? and seem to be blooming!

My Root tabs were from plants alive.co.uk they didnt have a brand name and were very cheap something like £3 for 40 from what i can remember.

Hi MLA, yes my plants are very low maintenance and I've also got sand substrate so it sounds like they'd definitely benefit from the extra boost I'll get on to Plants Alive now. Thanks for your help x

What plants do you have? Stem plants will benefit more from liquid fertiliser and others such as amazon swords and crypts will benefit from the root tabs most. Not to say each type won't appreciate both though.

Thanks Shark,

I've got both so I guess it makes sense to have the tabs to go with the Flourish

Bear in mind you might get an outbreak of algae with all the extra nutrients :)

Ammonia and CO2 issues cause algae in a planted tank. Not ferts/nutrients. ;)
