Lol, Open in new window
- this was me all morning!

The vet actually asked if we would take some photos - as he'd never done the procedure before - so in my tiny kitchen we had bowls, buckets, clotheshorse ( Very embarrassing) 3 people and a camera on a tripod!

I popped him back in the tank after a while, and it was quite funny, blindchu swam straight for him, nudging him as if to say "where were you?! Are you okay? Did you get FOOD?'
They're still hanging about very close together.

His lump is now about the same size as in the first picture in the thread, so pretty much back to where we started, but obviously a vast, vast improvement on where we were.

He's still not moving the fin, however the remainder of the lump is still at the edge of the gill plate so he may think it's still there, and also he's been unable to move it for a month now, so perhaps like anything, it may take time for him to get used to using it again as it may be quite weak. Also with the cauterising (house still smells of burnt fish) the tissue may be quite hard so will need time to heal.

Even with no movement of the fin, he's perfectly balanced and powering around the tank, I was maybe thinking it would be like a plane missing a wing, but apparently not!

I'm just so relieved that I kept knocking on doors til I got someone I was happy with to treat him, it's a huge weight off my mind that there's somewhere to go now.

They're pretty amazing little things aren't they, sounds like a good sign that he's got a big will to live

He's certainly got that judging from the video the other day. He looked so cute, struggling manfully on with the lump in tow. Hope he does well for a long time after this - he deserves to. He's a very brave and adorable little chap

I was so relieved when I saw he'd made it, I was dreading it in case he hadn't but thank goodness he has. What a trooper he is.

Wow, just catching up. Bless him, paddling that little fin

So glad it went well for you all - phew.

The biopsy will be interesting I'm sure! Do you get to find out the results? I would assume so?

Yes, he said he'd send me on the report, and with it refund me the money I overpaid by - the whole thing was cheaper than I thought.

Poor unsuspecting man, I'll be calling him every time they poop funny from now on.
