I think this is another troll post. I don't believe anyone who repeatedly asks such absurd questions and would apparently try to deadlift a smooth sphere weighing seven stone would get into any kind of university course, therefore I can only conclude they are posting comments to try and be comical or inflammatory. Yes simplyobsessed, the advisors were suggesting that you purchase fish and chip takeaway containers to house your goldfish. They are readily available online and you can easily link them together using superglue and staples to create a maze like environment for your fish. Thanks for that.. not. It's not a troll post. Northumbria University accepted me with A Level grades of BBC so do not treat me like i am a stupid person thanks. if you bother to read the post i said 'unrelated' things like fish and chips boxes so please don't do this thanks. i'm not sure of the whole weights thing people are talking about but it was damn heavier than it bloody looks :p. My fishies are fine now thank goodness and thanks for your help everyone that offered it i don't mean to look like im ignoring your advice |

I highly doubt they are fine, or that they will remain fine?! Are you not listening to any of the advice?
Dear god, if this is the youth of tomorrow we're all doomed. |

It's really too small still. The problem is that they ought to grow quite quickly and they won't in too small a tank. That can lead to a lot of problems for them long tern as they don't develop internally as they should and can have significant isssue with deformity of their swim bladders etc.
How long 'til you leave University and are back in a permanent home? |

Oh dear. That's really too long for them to be in an undersized tank. Is there any way you could ask your parents or someone to let you set up a bigger tank for them to live in at their house 'til you're set up on your own?

As you were told last September, if you are not willing or able offer an animal an adequate standard of living you should not have them. You say that you do not want to appear to be ignoring our advice, but you don't do anything but ignore us. My gut instinct says you're a troll and I think we've humoured you for far too long.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say your A levels weren't in Physics and Animal welfare? Trust me, every man and his dog went to University. Some of the people on my course had zero common sense. Education and true intelligence do not go hand in hand so I wouldn't go bragging too much if I were you.
Additionally I would suggest you take a look in the mirror before telling me to bother reading your post. Perhaps you should take your own advice there petal, I'm not the one torturing fish. As for 'the whole weights thing' you refer to, it's pretty basic really, get a pint glass, fill it with water (sacrilege for a student, I know), hold it in your hand whilst contemplating how heavy it is, then multiply that by 79 and contemplate how heavy that must be. Heavy right? |

Let's not have this get unpleasant. This is exactly why the other thread was closed. Advice has been offered, on the face of it it appears not to have been heeded, further advice is now sought and thus those that offered advice first time round feel a little unsure as to whether advice offered this time round (bearing in mind of course that we do this for free in our own time) will be heeded either.
I'm not interested in who's got what qualification. Simplyobsessed, take a step back, evaluate whether or not fish are the right pets for you in your current situation (consider also the number of fish you've had die when you think about this). Take a look at the realities of pet keeping and think carefully about the basics such as tank maintenance. Do not endanger either yourself or your pets by attempting to do things that are frankly not sensible. E.g. lift a tank of any sort containing water. Advice is given here in good faith, please let't not have anyone abuse that. If anyone would like to offer advice please feel free to do so but let's keep it to that and not get personal, from either side ![]() |
