Ive just pulverised cichlid spirulina pellets into dust and sprinkled into the tank..much to the disgust of the parents as the bits are so small but hopefully the babies will get some.

Edit//ive just bought this too http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... &ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

FANTASTIC!!! Nothing like seeing those big blue eyes peering at you over the edge of a shell ...

I use this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HIKARI-FIRST-BI ... pplies_Fish#ht_500wt_1154

but you need to get your hand into tank and release it half way down, if you sprinkle it on surface it takes forever to sink

There are probably several more there. Once they come out of the shell they often spend more time hiding between shells than inside shells.

Hi Cathie, im still buzzing from my first sighting of the little fishy

My only concern now is that im going on holiday on the 11th September for a possible 9 ish days, now, the automatic feeder feeds my fish twice a day for 7 days, my son can pop in and reload the feeder for a few extra day (he's as fascinated with them as me and Mr J and knows how to feed them). Im hoping that the feeder will feed all the cichlids including the babies..i know im going to be on pins the whole time im away.

Im still grinning like a cheshire cat.

After all that Flower has been through, she has still managed to have babies...i just knew she was special

So far ive seen sites which say broods can be between 3-40..or between 25-30....think i will have to wait until they are a bit older to do a head count though.

Apparently mum fans the eggs for 2 days before they hatch then when the fry are about 5-6 days old and have consumed the yolk sac, they venture out into the big wide world.

Oh and mum and dad can have a brood every 4 weeks....

Can anyone fill in any gaps for me from experience please, information online is very limited and varied.

Thanks muchly
