hi guys,

i've just been sitting watching my tank....as i normally do at this time of night....and noticed that my purple sea urchin just squirted a white substance into the water. the cleaner shrimp went crazy for it and started swimming through it and (what looked like) eating it. any ideas what this could be or am i just being a bit naive?

cheers,

adam.

Hi Adam, what you've witness is spawning. They release eggs and sperm same time. The eggs would have been food for the shrimps which is why it went for them.

i've been swamped with work. starting my new career as an electronics assembler, being sent to the OU for a degree in physics so i can move up to product design, still teaching saturday music school and my adult strings group... no time for anything really and unfortunately FK kinda fell by the wayside

unfortunately, due to financial constraints, it hasnt changed much since you saw it!

the sump is complete, the cabinet is complete... i need to build a lighting canopy, and i need to plumb the tank. then deal with the expense of the substrate, salt, and live rock which i'm not able to do right now so the whole thing is just on hold until life changes enough to really go at it.

besides, after putting in the rock, if i dont have money for the cleanup crew, i'm kinda screwed so i have to have quite a big lump sum ready to actually get the green light

sorry to hear that mate, but at least once you have the lump sum ready you can make one beautiful looking tank.
