Fishy is about 10 inches , that does include his tail though ....

He lives in a 48 inch tank though....

I agree, that not many people see fully grown goldfish , i have seen an angler at Teddington catch one that weighed 6 pounds when he weighed it ( it was a singletail , obviously swum out of someones garden pond in a flood and survived ...

It was ma-hoo-sive !! really shocked me .... very pretty fish though !

I forgot about the introduction procedure when I realised how big he was.... Durrrr......
Got swept away by the sheer size of him.
I know that you don't count the tail when measuring, I just didn't think his body alone could be 7 inches?!! I know singletails get huge, but I didn't think fancies did!

Have today got his tank all planted up, got the light rigged up too now for the plants. Got some nice cobbles in there which look good with the pebbly substrate.
Got some bits 'n' bobs from P@H to give him two nice, fine bubble streams so he can do some of that 'Bum Tickling' that Goldies and Fancies seem to enjoy indulging in....

Just can't wait for him to arrive now!
Hope to arrange for his delivery to quarantine early next week and see how he goes....

You will likely find that they have included his tail in the measurements but it is possible they haven't and you do realise that you have got us all in anticipation to his arrival now

Love it!

'GIANT GOLDFISH CAUSES COURIER TRUCK TO BREAK DOWN'

Looking at the pics, he must be fully mature, if he was indeed a he, would he not have little white dots on his gill plates by now? Or do they come and go with 'friskiness'?

Could he, infact, be a large lay-dee?!

I think the tubercules only appear when they are ready to breed, so they are not a permanent feature - yet another source of suspense ...

Here is true giant goldfish btw in case you have not seen it:

I will be keeping you all in suspenders then till his arrival when I will confirm exactly how big he is.

Thanks, that is big!
Sorry, I was not insinuating he was that giant!
I will shut up about him now....
Just excited, that's all.

:S This is a useless contribution to the thread but...

I don't quite get the whole thing... Is that fish a black moor?? It IS reeeeally big but I thought first class ones were supposed to have flowing tails and be all black?

Just a bit confused at what's going on? It looks a bit ill?

Its so cute though.
