Thanks so much for the detailed advice! I only got her today, I'm fairly sure she's pregnant & I'm very worried. She doesn't seem to be distressed at all & is eating well, but I really don't like the way it looks. I'll go to the LFS tomorrow with your recommendations & see where I get.

Thank you again, have a good weekend!

Hi folks,

Sorry to ask yet another stupid question, my last of the evening I promise. I have been to 3 pet shops now and been offered several different water testing kits that all seem to have complicated pros & cons and require different kits to test different things. Is there a kit that I can use to give me all the info I need? I am moving house over the next week and really want to give my tank inhabitants the best chance of survival. Any advice as to what I should get?

Cheers,
Anna

Hello again,

Two of my female guppies are looking very well fed, could they be pregnant? I'm really hoping so, but don't know how to tell.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Anna

Hi guys,

Another stupid question I'm afraid: One of my guppies seems to be wearing a white velvet jacket over one side of the front of her body. I have isolated her within the tank, but should I be treating her?

Cheers,
Anna

Will it be too late tomorrow? I can't think of anywhere I could get one now. Should I take this as a practice run or do you think they'll survive the night?

Whilst I was out this evening being inattentive, someone in my my tank has given birth. The only live bearers I have are the guppies. The babies are amazingly tiny and pretty much transparent. There seem to be a few of them & I need to know what to do to make sure they have the best chance. Clearly, I can't hoik them out & into a new tank - is there a chance they will survive with other fish in there? I have Dwarf Rainbows & Mt Minnows other than the guppies.

I am so excited, clearly I have happy fish if they're having babies, what's my best chance of seeing them grow up???

Cheers,
Anna

This is so exciting! Keep us updated with thier progress, won't you? Could they be salamander tads? Did a quick google, & it looks like a possibility.

I'm really jealous!

Hi there,

It is cold water, hovering at about 24. They are very active & charge about the glass at high speed, so I am not unduly worried, just making sure they are happy.

Thanks!
