Im here again!! I am hoping someone can tell me in detail exactly what I need to do to move my fish from the old tank into new larger tank. I have had some good advice of here but also have made the mistake of looking at too many websites and I now am sooooo confused about how to do this, I dont want to make any mistakes that will kill my fish and they all say different things so Im not sure which is the right advice.
ive read i should do fishless cycle of new tank first. Ive read to just move filter, gravel, plants etc and then fish and top up with new water. Ive read to just transfer 1 fish at a time. Ive read so much stuff im so confused, im stressed out about moving them.

I have

2 Platys
3 Zeb Danios
1 Hong Kong Plec
2 Apple Snails
2 Clams
1 Ghost Shrimp.
My new tank (84L) has been set up a week now, is same temp as old one. If someone could spell it out for me the best way to do this it would help a lot.
Sorry Fishlady if you have to advise me yet again
thanks

Thanks, I will do that. I will be testing the water every day once the fish are moved to keep an eye on levels. Its all very stressful moving fish around just cant wait till they are in their new home and happy. I am in the process of trying to grow algae on pebbles in my conservatory for my Plec to eat as was worried he wont have enough to eat in new tank. Bought some algae wafers just in case. Thanks again.

I am wanting to seed my new large tank from the smaller tank my fish are currently in before I move the fish. However my fish are currently being trated for an outbreak of white spot in the smaller tank. Im worried if I move media across that I will infect the new aquarium and reinfect my fish once they move?? Any advice. I have already moved some plants out of the old tank in to the new.
Any advice would be great.

thanks for the info, im afraid im in a situation from being badly advised at Pets@h. I am now left with fish etc with different needs but love them all and dont want to get rid of any. Its my fault too as should have done more research before getting the pleco. Can you recommend the best airpump. I have no knowledge of air stuff. Do they plug in seperate to the filter. Would a bubble curtain be something else on top of the air pump??
my filter on 85L has a tube that runs across top of tank and squirts water out of lots of little holes on to filter pads then sprinkles back in to the tank. There was no info with it as it came with Boyu Tank and is referred to as the water quality processor???

Does anyone know what kind of filter this is?? Am I right in thinking its a spray bar filter??? It came with my 84L tank that I want to keep a Hong Kong Pleco in and some Platys, Danios. I have read plecos like fast flowing oxy rich water. Would I need to add an Air pump as well??

Can I keep Hong Kong Pleco with Platy??

I have just bought an upgrade tank (84L) I plan to move my 2 platys, 3 Zeb Danios, 1 Hong Kong Pleco, 1 ghost Shrimp, 2 Apple Snails and 2 clams across (once they have recovered from their whitespot) to new tank in a few days. They are currently in a 35L. I have a few questions??

Can hong kong plec live with platys, I currently dont have a heater in my 35L (the platys were sold to me as Temperate water fish, didnt realise they were tropical?) They have been fine at constant unheated 18*/20* for over a year. I am planning to have a heater in the new tank so my question is -
will a hong kong plec be happy with water temp at 22* and will platys be ok with this too ???? Ive read all different on this??
Would the plec be ok in new tank as there is no green for it to feed on?
Would shrimp, snails and clams be ok in new tank as again no green or crud yet for them to feed on. Would Alge wafer be ok as a replacement??
Im planning on moving some of the old tank water over , all the plants and squeezing the olf sponge in to the new filter, will this help the cycle??
Any advice welcome, Thanks

I have a cycled tank thats a 54 litre but its got 5 platy fry in it so cant move my adults there as will transfer the white spot. I also have cats and worry about where I would put the food box with fish in it without secure lid?? My filter is an external hang on the back of the tank style (Marina) so dont know how I would transfer sponge to a filter that was underwater in the box as it would be a different shape?? what filter would you recommend I put in the box ??? sorry for all the questions but it gets more confusing every post??
