Hi everyone,

Was thinking of getting this piece of kit to supply a constant CO2 level for my plants.

Has anyone, or does any use it? Looks good with the solenoid so it can be shut off at night.

Well the tank is finally set up and cycle started.

Bought Unipac Silver Sand. Looks good, but took ages to wash. Tank looks slightly cloudy at min but sure it will die down. Don't think i could of washed the sand anymore!!

I'm looking for a bit of cover. At the min I've got 6 bits of bogwood, 5 Java Fern, about 5 vallisnera something, which will multiply, 15 little cryptocorns which I think are dying already. Apparently they don't like being moved and put into a "new tank". Got 5 amazon swords to go in too.

Seen a nice plant in lfs other day. Had no name, was like 5 columns which looked like toilet brushes and deep green. Not sure how hardy that is.

Fish lady, how many snails would you recommend for my sand once its cycled? We'll sort out postage once its done

haha.

Yea i'll get some snails from you to keep it aerated .

Gonna go down to LFS tomorrow and see if they stock it, if not i'll get it online.

Will the sand be ok with my filter? It's the standard Juwel filter box in the Rio 180. It seems to draw in the water at the top, which I think will be ok.

Thank you.

What is the best type of sand to use? I have heard people mention play sand??

I was thinking of doing half and half sand and gravel, one side gravel, one side sand. Would that work?

Damn, I havent tested the tap water yet. I am guessing its going to be pretty much the same as I have only moved 2 mile away and its the same water supply, I could be wrong though.

I've been looking at some CO2 systems, but I don't know if it's going to be a lot of work, and more importantly, more to go wrong lol.

In my last set up I had, harlequins, cherry barbs, dwarf gourami and julii cory.

Would you recommend adding some sand to the substrate? I only had gravel last time and the barbells on the cory's wore down and they all died

Hi everyone,

Ive been away for a while, moving home, holidays etc and I took my aqaurium apart. Fish were re homed and its been empty for about 4 months.

This weekend I am setting it up again

Starting the 6 week cycle too so hopefully get fish in by xmas.

I had Amazon Sword in my last set up, but Im looking for new ideas, a few different ones.

But, I wont be dosing with CO2, they will just be getting a liquid fertiliser, the under gravel tablets and the lights, 2 Juwel T5's in a Rio 180.

Anyone have any good suggestions?

Thanks

Lol. It's a lovely little fish now. At one point I thought "he" was on his last fins, but he's bounding about more boisterous than ever now :)
