Hello folks,

Hoping for a bit of advice. About a week ago my Bolivian ram seemed to be swimming at a slight angle. I thought it was just an illusion of the bow front tank but today I noticed he was at a very slight angle again but also has clear stringy poop with white bits in it. Could he be constipated? If so do blanched peas work for rams?

I've done some googling but most of the advice seems to come from US sites where they treat with chemicals in case of parasites.

There were no changes to the tank prior to the angled swimming but the TDS had been a bit high for his liking I think.

Parameters:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
GH 5-6
KH 3-4
PH 7.4
TDS 196

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you :)

Edit: By swimming at an angle I mean leaning very slightly to one side, left or right.

Actually, I just remembered something... In my friend's toddler-proof house they have multiplugs that have lockable covers, so you can't actually unplug things from the sockets without a little plastic key. Could you try something like that along side providing an extra multi plug for them?

Siblings! Who'd have them!

I was all ready to reply saying the japes my bro and sis used to get up to (going fishing in the goldfish pond, trying to feed our neighbours guppies to the cat, always unplugging the pond filter to plug in a sega mega drive in the shed...) but then I read the part where you say they're in their twenties???!!!! That's seriously odd behaviour, immature and unreasonable in my opinion :(

I'd try the stickers approach, get an extra multiplug and at the same time try and get them to have a serious sit down conversation along the lines Suey suggested.

Hope it works out.

Hi FL

Thanks for the reply! As long as he's ok on his own I'll leave him be! I was worried he would be 'unfulfilled' being alone!

Stocking wise is there anything you could recommend? We've been thinking about some additions at the top level of the tank but not sure what to consider! We had looked at pearl or moonlight gourami but I'm worried about aggression issues with them.

We don't want to have too much stock due to having to use RO, would rather keep changes to a minimum.
