just bought seechem prime does it give u false readings on ammonia api test kit.

alot people say it does, its first time i have used it
any info wuld be gr8

going to buy ammonia alert disc are they any good

its api master test kit just got it last year
my ph is 7-6 all the time even after pwc
yes i heat the water near same temp as tank water
well i been reading about ph shock
as u say it sounds like ph shock

lost 2 clown roachs another 1 ok swimming about
will do pwc every week now

the clown roach was going round in fast circles
the rest of were lying at bottom and the top
i think i know the probelm i over dozed on tetra new aqua safe tap water conditioner

on the bottle it says 5ml for 10Ls
i put in 10ml in the bucket over dozed it
can that kill my fish
done that twice doing 2 water changes
what do i do now
use carbon and do another water change

tank is 215L aqua one ar-980 wet and dry trickle filter
my stock was 3 2inch clown loaches/7 danios/6 lemon tetras
6 glowlight tetras/ 1 bristlenose/ i red tail shark/ 6 serpae tetras

my tank 3 yrs old and cycled
i have done water cnanges monthly for 3yrs now
this first time this has happen
i only clean 1 sponge if that needs a clean
so that i dont kill my bacteria in the tank
i check all water tests once a week

when i done water change on monday by frid they started dying off. its only thing i can thing off i over clean filter media in the tank which caused the ammonia spike
all water tests were ok till frid
thats when i noticed the fish were dying

my test results for water were
ammonia oppm
nitrite oppm
nitrate 5.oppm
ph. high 7-4
ph. 7-6
tapwater 7

after water change
ammonia 0.50ppm
nitrite oppm
nitrate oppm ph.
ph high 7-4
ph 7-6
tapwater 7

now
ammonia oppm
nitrite oppm
nitrate oppm
ph high 7-4
ph 7-6
tapwater 7

i live soft water area
i use tap water conditioner
tetra new aquasafe

done monthly water change on mon by frid fish started dying
i think i over cleaned 2 off my bacteria sponges and left 3rd 1 alone.

thats when problem started in the tank. i got ammonia spike
it was 0.50ppm on frid i lost 14 fish and 20 fry
so i done large water change it came back down to oppm
so sat i tested the water again for ammonia it was oppm

so i wont feed the fish for 2 days thats ok
i know now not change water and sponges at same time
i cleaned them in old tank water

any adivce would be welcomed
costly mistake i made

need a bit of adivce well pf2 interpet filter broke down
on monday nite on my fish tank in my bedroom

cant say how long it was off for. i had fish in the tank
so i moved them to my other tank and the filter that broke down. how long will the bacteria last for before it dies off

so i brought same filter on tues i put media that was in filter that broke down into new filter
do i have to recycel the tank again
or bacteria be alrite

or u can make snail trap bit lettuce on a small plate
leave it in till the next morin snails will be on plate
