Just a quicky question. Do you need to empty a fx5 every time you want to open it?

It's been running now for about a month with media from old filter (fluval 405) in it so thought it would be a good time to increase the media. Just seems a bit extreme emptying it just to add a bag of noodles!!!

Hello well they are in and I'm totally shattered. It's taken the best part of today to change it over but it is looking good. I have a few little bits to do, finishing touches really O and also Mr B has got to fit my new lighting up. I will then take the final photo and put them up for you all to see. The fish are currently exploring their new home and I've even put the little rescue fish (Nanny) in with them..... Boy she looks so tiny compared to my monsters, but she is already beating them to the food so she won't be small for long haha.
O and my new fluval fx5...... Well it's a beast lol.... and PRIMES itself :O..... Cool. Should help keep the monsters clean as it can do up to a 1500 litre tank apparently :0 so mine being 350 litres should be ok then haha.

YEP my new tank is sat in my dining room all nicely wrapped awaiting Sunday morning for the big change over :). I am so looking forward to getting stuck in to the move. I am having a stressful time at work n the heaving and lugging around of buckets of water and heavy tanks will do me the world of good. Plus it'll look spanking when its finished :)

I am going to be taking photo's of the progress for you all to see.

Just gotta see if I can borrow some food safe boxes for water storage... wonder if my LFS will have something!!

O I did try lol but no luck :(, gotta go sort out n pay for it tomorrow I can then find out when they can deliver. My boyz are gonna love it.... They gone from 75 ish litre to my 220 n now a 350 litre tank lol castle goldie I should call it :).

Apart from Dylan's eye (another thread) they are doing well so am very pleased, not perfect by all means but a huge improvement on how they was when I got them.

Well a little good news the eye is no bigger today. I discovered I've got some esha 2000 so going to dose the tank on that instead of melafix.

Done water test n all fine

PH 7.8 on high range test
0 ammonia
0 nitrItes
20 nitrAtes

I'm doing a water change as I'm writing this gonna do a slightly bigger change today (50%).

Let's hope the esha clears up the problem.... If I wanna repeat the esha after this treatment how long do I leave it n will I have to do a water change in between? Xx

MY NEW TANK IS AT MY LFS :) :D.....

I'm one excited bunny :), perfect timing as I have a few days off so as long as they can deliver it I'll be able to set it up :). At last I will have a decent sized tank again and I'm treating the goldies to a bigger filter too :) going for a fluval FX 5 nice n big to deal with the messy monsters :).

Had to share on here cos get no reaction from the hubster or son lol xxx

I will have glass doors covering top no risk of fish jumping n to much evaporation.. Been to LFS n seen the new modular lighting system that I like the look of so they are pricing it up. Wanna get it right this time as I won't be spending so much on them for a few years (house needs work doing to it :/)

My first night was last night n it was ok, went quite quick probably due to me taking beads to keep me busy (I make jewellery with em). Good luck when you do start your new job.. I took night basically cos its longer hours and better pay.. Xx
