Even the water flowing back into my tanks makes almost no sound.
Maybe your hearing is better than mine. Given my age that wouldn't be difficult ![]() |

I agree, more water will not affect the rate that the power head will pick up.
However if your tank is filled to the brim and there is a power failure, the water that is contained within the filter will trickle back into the tank causing the water level to rise, possibly above the rim of the tank. Noise wise. My filters are almost silent. All the noise comes from timers and air pumps Maybe the Aqua One 620T has a slightly different filter set up causing noise? My 2 Aqua Ones filters differ slightly but both are incredibly quiet ![]() |

I have two aqua one tanks both with wet/dry trickle filtration.
Never had a problem with the filters in either tanks and my water params are always spot on. I have never felt the need to add further filtration to either tank. Although I would say that the performance of any filter relies on a number of factors. Such as stocking levels, maintenance, what fish are kept etc. As for tanks overflowing if there is a power cut. I have had 2 power cuts in the last month and neither tank overflowed. The amount of water contained at any one time in the filter is not huge. If you filled your tank right up to the brim then a little water would probably spill out in the event of a power failure. Just keep the water level 1cm or so below the top of the tank. The 90litre tank would be a good start if you could find room ![]() |

You would need to use something like Tetra AquaSafe to remove chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals from the water before you add it to your tank. This is important as the bacteria in your filter cannot cope with these substances and will begin to die
edit: Cathie, its far too late and you type far too fast . ![]() |

We have two moggies called Jasper and Tilly. Both rescue cats. Jasper broke his hip a few years ago so now walks with quite a peculiar gait. Tilly is jet black and absolutely beautiful! She's a propper little lady. Always purring. Not a bad bone in her body.
We also keep rather large spiders. (see my signature pic) This is Genivieve (named by my daughter!)a lovley Chilean Rose. Over the years we have kept rabbits, dogs, lots of cats, Russian dwarf hamsters (never again... vicious little buggers), spiders and numerous rats. |

A 24x12inch tank has a surface area of 288sq inches and should therefore hold about 24inches of fish (not including the tail)
This is only a rough guide as it only takes into account body length and not body bulk of the fish. For example a big, fat, round goldie will produce heaps more waste than a dozen WCMM but the WCMM combined length will be more than that of the single goldie. I would work up to 24inches of fish monitoring water quality carefully and see how the filter copes. |

Hi Reece, welcome to FK.
Have a read of this- http://www.fishkeeping.co.uk/articles ... hless-cycling-article.htm Nutrafin cycle suppliment is probably useless as the bacteria needed in the filter require food and O2 to live. Neither of which are present in a sealed bottle that has been on a shelf for god knows how long. Hope the link works. Been a long time since I've done one! How big is your tank by the way? ![]() |
